Growing up, I always admired the people who took the time to share their knowledge with me. I will never forget the people who helped me understand these fish, those people and their lessons have stuck with me. That gratitude towards those people has helped shape my decision to start this guide service. Now, I have the opportunity to pass on that same kind of knowledge to others genuinely interested in learning the sport musky fishing.
My approach to guiding is straightforward. I’m not your typical fishing guide, and the trips I run will reflect that. I believe the best way to learn musky fishing is by enjoying the process, and having fun. We will work on the fundamentals of musky fishing, understanding the water, reading current, and making the right decisions in real time. It’s not about casting blindly going down the bank and hoping for a bite. It’s about learning how these fish use their environment and piecing together the pieces of the puzzle every single day.
Fishing has always been apart of my life as long as I can I remember. Muskies have fascinated me since I first learned about them when I was a kid. For a long time, they felt like a mythical fish that existed only in the distant north woods 6 hours away. Once I discovered they were closer to home, I dove into it headfirst. I spent every spare moment on the water—or standing on the bank—casting and learning. Over the years, I’ve dedicated thousands of hours and donated tens of thousands of dollars in baits to the river learning spots and how Muskies use them. I have worked really hard to understand these fish and how they feed.
My goal on every trip will be to help you earn your fish the right way. We will be casting artificial lures, understanding structure and current, recognizing feeding windows, and experiencing the thrill of musky fishing the way it was meant to be done. I want people to understand why so many anglers become completely addicted to Musky Fishing. Once you feel that first thump after putting in some effort, it all starts to make sense. These fish are incredibly special to me, and I believe they deserve the utmost respect. Teaching proper handling and responsible fishing techniques is one way I can help keep this tradition alive.
What sets me apart from everyone else is simple: besides working on the water at my full time job, I only fish for muskies. This isn’t just one of the fish I target. Musky fishing fully consumes me. It’s something I’ve sacrificed for and dedicated my life to for years, and it continues to drive me. I genuinely love these fish, and that level of dedication has translated directly into more time on the river than anyone else and that time on the water has resulted in a deeper understanding of their behavior, and ultimately more fish in the boat.
When you step into the boat with me, my goal isn’t just to help you catch a fish. I want you to learn and walk away with real knowledge and skills that you can use on your own to safely and effectively catch and release more muskies. More importantly, I want you to walk away with unforgettable memories and a deeper respect for these incredible fish that can take decades to grow.
